Six Years of The Many Colors of Natalie: Six Years of Becoming
Six years ago, I pressed publish on something that would become so much more than I ever expected.
August 24, 2026, marks the sixth anniversary of The Many Colors of Natalie.
Sitting here thinking about that feels a little surreal.
Six years is a long time.
A lot can happen in six years.
People change. Relationships change. Dreams change. Priorities change. Sometimes, life changes in ways you never saw coming, and I have changed, too.
Where It All Began
When I started The Many Colors of Natalie, I simply wanted a place to share my thoughts, experiences, interests, and the things that made me happy.
I didn’t know exactly where it would go.
I certainly didn’t have everything figured out.
But, I had something to say, and I wanted a space that felt like me.
That’s where the idea of many colors came from.
Because none of us are just one thing.
We can be strong and vulnerable, confident and scared, independent, and still want someone to hold our hand.
We can be ambitious while still figuring out what we’re doing next.
We can experience heartbreak and still believe in love.
We can have difficult chapters without letting those chapters define our entire story.
That has always been the heart of The Many Colors of Natalie.
Six Years of Life Over the last six years, this blog has grown and changed right along with me.
I’ve shared food.
I’ve shared Pittsburgh.
I’ve shared places I’ve visited, people I’ve met, things I’ve learned, moments that made me laugh, and moments that made me stop and think.
I’ve shared pieces of my life that weren’t always easy to put into words.
I’ve learned that sometimes the most meaningful stories aren’t the perfectly polished ones.
They’re the honest ones.
The stories about starting over.
The stories about finding yourself again.
The stories about realizing that the life you imagined isn’t necessarily the life you’re going to have—and discovering that doesn’t mean your story is over.
Sometimes, it means you’re finally getting to write a new chapter.
The Woman Behind the Blog
When I look back at the Natalie who started this blog six years ago, I have so much compassion for her.
She didn’t know everything that was coming.
She couldn’t have predicted every twist and turn.
She didn’t know how many times she would have to start over.
But she kept going. And that’s something I’m proud of.
Because maybe the biggest lesson these six years have taught me is that becoming doesn’t happen all at once.
It happens slowly.
Through experiences.
Through mistakes.
Through relationships.
Through heartbreak.
Through education.
Through work.
Through taking chances.
Through deciding that you’re not finished yet.
And, Now… A New Chapter
Today, The Many Colors of Natalie is becoming something bigger.
I’m dreaming bigger.
I’m thinking about the future of this blog—not just as a place to tell my story, but as a creative platform that can connect with people, highlight the things I love, support local businesses, celebrate Pittsburgh, and eventually become something that can grow into a real business.
There is still so much I want to do.
So many stories I want to tell.
So many places I want to explore.
So many ideas sitting in my head waiting to become something real.
I’m ready for it.
Six years ago, I started a blog.
Six years later, I’m realizing I was really creating a record of my becoming.
Every post represents a moment in time.
A version of me.
A color.
Some colors have been bright.
Some have been dark.
Some have completely surprised me.
But every single one belongs in the picture.
That’s what makes it The Many Colors of Natalie.
So, here’s to six years.
Six years of writing.
Six years of creating.
Six years of learning.
Six years of growing.
Six years of sharing my world.
And six years of reminding myself that I don’t have to have everything figured out to keep moving forward.
The story isn’t over.
If anything, I think we’re just getting started.
Here’s to the next chapter.
Here’s to more colors.
Here’s to bigger dreams.
Here’s to whatever comes next.
