Book Review of Hooked by Emily Mcintire
By: Shirley Ann Petropoulos

Hooked by Emily Mcintire quickly became one of my favorite reads of 2024. This dark romance
novel had me on the edge of my seat from the very start. Right when I thought one thing would
happen another thing completely different would occur in the novel. Mcintire’s development of
her characters is so well done that it helps the reader to understand exactly who the characters are
throughout the novel. I can honestly say that I did not expect the ending of the novel to be the
way it was.

Mcintire did not do a retelling of Peter Pan, but she did seem to use it as a basis for her
novel. She created a world in which the villain of a beloved Disney classic is exquisitely done. I
never expected to love this novel as much as I did. Her writing style helped me feel for the two
main characters and I absolutely enjoyed how the book was set up with dual POVs so that I got
both side story throughout the book. This is a fast paced novel and I really found myself feeling
for all of the characters even the ones I did not necessarily like. It took me less than a month to
finish this book. Lastly, I highly recommend this novel for anyone who is into dark romances
where the villain is the main character and he gets his happy ending.

My Ratings: Quality of Writing-> 5 stars, Strength of Characters-> 5 stars, and Plot-> 5 stars
