Punxy Phil calls for an early spring!

On Friday, February 2, 2024, forty-five thousand people gathered at Gobblers Knob to witness Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction. Phil did not see his shadow and called for an early spring. According to a source, this marks the 21st time Phil has not seen his shadow during the 138-year-old tradition. Phil has a 39% accuracy rate.

Nicole (my sister) and I decided to venture to Punxsutawney for Groundhog Day. Since this was a last-minute decision, we knew our chances of getting a hotel were slim. So, we decided to pull an all-nighter. Plus, all the events were sold out. To be safe, we had to do some quick research. We were able to follow the event schedule. We took a Greyhound bus, which only took a few hours from Pittsburgh to Punxsutawney. Our first stop was Barclay Square. We met the Derek Woods Band there and we all went to dinner at Punxy Phils. After dinner, Nicole and I ventured off to the Community Center. At the Community Center, we saw multiple craft vendors, and learned about the history of the Community Center. Additionally, we watched the Groundhog Day movie. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to lay your head for a few hours – the Community Center gives individuals that option. Then, we left the Community Center to go to the local Wal-Mart. Say what you want, but I needed a snack. Plus, this was one of the nicest Wal-Marts I have seen. Probably because it’s a super center!

The Derek Woods Band met us at the Wal-Mart Super Center and gave us a ride to Gobbler’s Knob. Nicole and I got primo spots. We were practically up front! We were right behind the news crews. People come from all over the world for this spectacular event. We saw the Derek Woods Band perform, and we had signs that we held up from time to time, there was so much fun and excitement that was building up during this wonderful ceremony. Considering we were outside for most of this excursion we made sure we were warm enough. I have some of the items listed in my ManyColorsofNatalieShop. When all said and done, Nicole and I were up for over 24 hours, and we had a blast! We stayed safe, warm, and had fun!

Since then, Phil became a dad! Here is the article for you to check out.
