Zachary Steiner Executive Chef / Owner Westwood Catering / Rogue BBQ

Zachary Steiner

Considering Bacon Day is on December 30th, I needed to introduce you all to someone who knows how to cook bacon like a champion! Zachary Steiner is a talented and accomplished chef. OMG! Yes, I had the pork tacos and I promise you they were EVERYTHING!! LOL

The Holiday Cafe has interviewed Zach in the fall of 2018. This is a great follow up interview to see what he has been up to. Also, this is a good introduction. There is no way you will be able to read this whole thing without your mouth watering!

How did you get into the food business?

I’ve always gravitated towards food from a young age cooking with my grandmother’s. I cooked to put myself through school and ended up staying in the kitchen even after finishing school. I’ve been a chef in both corporate and private kitchens and now an entrepreneur with a bar, restaurant, banquet facility and BBQ company with food truck and satellite location inside of Kennywood.

How can one book you for a party or an event?

There are several ways to get in touch with us for booking information. You can call us at 412-462-9555 ext. 102, you can message us on social media or message us on our website roguebbqpgh.com

If someone wants to seek out your food truck where can they find you?

To find the food truck your best bet is keeping an eye on social media. This year has been a real challenge with COVID-19 because we lost all of our big regularly scheduled events so we have not been out with the truck as much this summer.

What is your favorite area of the city?

I would have to say North Shore/ Deutschtown. We have a blast every time we do the music festival and we frequently attend Steeler games.

If you could pick one food item on your menu that’s your signature item what would it be?

Definitely would have to be our smoked wings or Bacon on a stick. We won best dry rub in Pittsburgh 2016/2017 at King of Wing at Penn Brewery. Bacon on a stick won the summer at Kennywood.

Can you tell us more about your partnership with Kennywood?

As for our location in Kennywood we will be through the 2022 season. We have had a great relationship with Kennywood bringing the foodtruck in for special events and was lucky enough to partner with them beginning in 2020.

Do you have any other exciting news you would like to share with us?

As we speak we are working on bottling our dry rubs and finishing dust for retail sale hopefully to be available on the food truck as well as Kennywood.

  1. My wife and I go Westwood frequently. They have incredible food. I especially love the bacon cheese burgers and the pizza. My wife loves the tacos and loaded fries. The staff is great. Keep up the great work.
